Position Summary

This position will serve as the primary contact for the Office of Admissions at BGSU Firelands.  The incumbent will provide counseling, guidance, referrals, assistance and information to internal and external stakeholders involved in the enrollment process in person, via phone and across multiple electronic platforms.  The student services counselor will complete additional processing tasks related to maintenance of student and office records.

  • Represents the Office of Admissions at BGSU Firelands as a first point of contact by providing student-level counseling on the enrollment process through fielding inquiries, leading presentations and hosting appointments.  Provides information to internal and external stakeholders on the offerings at BGSU Firelands along with corresponding admission requirements and policies.  Assists students in completing enrollment process through outreach via phone, email and other strategic methods as directed.  May represent the department to both internal and external audiences at various University events. 
  • Exhibits strong customer service through timely and consistent management of daily operations of the office, including serving as primary contact of phone inquiries, visit calendars, and shared admissions email inboxes.  May provide logistical support for special events for the unit as needed including prospective student and campus partner visit programs, advisory board meetings and the annual BGSU Firelands college fair.
  • Loads, coordinates, maintains and evaluates records including student applications, transcripts, test scores and other components of an application and student admission record.  Maintains consistent documentation of procedures related to the enrollment process for use both internally and for campus and external partners.  Manages the accurate processing of student records across multiple databases in alignment with departmental, campus and University policies and business practices.
  • Coordinates workflow and activities of student workers and temporary staff in office, including ensuring coverage for the reception desk and campus tours.
  • Orders supplies. Submits work orders.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience

  • Six months related experience

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
     

Salary
Full-time Classified staff position.  Pay Grade 25/$15.31.  Full benefit package available.
