Assistant Teaching Professor - Applied Sciences - Resort and Attraction Management

Bowling Green State University invites applicants for a full-time, qualified rank faculty (Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor), twelve-month renewable appointment to join the new undergraduate degree program in Resort and Attraction Management, located in the Applied Sciences Department.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach and mentor students in one of the few specialized bachelor degree programs in the country created to address a growing need for trained and experienced managers in amusement and theme parks, resorts, zoos, aquariums, and family entertainment centers throughout the United States and globally.  The degree program, developed in partnership with Cedar Fair, a leader in the amusement park industry, is designed to be a junior-senior (2+2) program.  Classes will be held in a new facility in downtown Sandusky, OH, currently under construction with the first cohort commencing in summer 2020.  The RAAM program and Applied Sciences department are committed to providing an environment that promotes collaboration and multiple opportunities for professional excellence.

• Provide excellent instruction of in-class and web-based undergraduate courses in the program.
Use strategies and skills necessary to support student learning outcomes and prepare and deliver current and relevant course material in an understandable and motivating manner.
Contribute to the development of courses throughout the program and the delivery of a quality student learning experience.
Engage in course design and management, curriculum and revisions, and new course validation process.
Participate in and support the accreditation and program review processes by providing teaching, learning, and administrative support as a member of the RAAM unit.
Evaluate student performance.
Meet with students as needed for advising, scheduling, and discussing concerns.
Build collaborative partnerships with leaders in RAAM and university stakeholders to advance the image and status of the program.
Support student recruitment, retention, and graduation efforts.
Identify, develop, and maintain industry contacts for co-op and career opportunities that enhance and align with the RAAM program.
Participate actively in the program’s recruitment.
Participate as an active member of the Applied Sciences Department.
Participate in related service and professional development activities as appropriate.
Perform other job related tasks as may relate to maintaining and improving the quality of the education program.  
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in hospitality, visitor attraction management, business, or a related discipline
Four years of supervisory or management experience in amusement parks or other attraction venues, hotels, resorts, or food & beverage
Preferred Qualifications
Previous teaching experience at an accredited university
Ph.D in hospitality, visitor attraction management, business, or a related discipline
