The School of Media and Communication at Bowling Green State University invites applicants for a tenured (associate or full) professor. Candidates should have an established reputation as a researcher and will contribute to the school’s doctoral program in Media and Communication. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in journalism or public relations as well as graduate courses in their areas of expertise. The successful candidate will serve as the undergraduate program coordinator for the journalism/public relations major, providing oversight of academic programs in Journalism/Public Relations and overseeing ACEJMC accreditation and other activities associated with developing and delivering innovative programs in journalism and public relations that prepare students for successful careers 

Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities: 
Teach undergraduate journalism, public relations, advertising or media courses
Teach graduate courses in media and communication
Engage in a successful program of research that yields scholarly publications
Provide oversight to the journalism and public relations major 
Guide accreditation and assessment of the journalism program
Provide additional service to the school, university, college and discipline
 
A terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D.) in Journalism/Mass Communication/Public Relations or closely related field such as advertising, communication or media 
College-level teaching experience as instructor of record in journalism, public relations,  advertising or a related area (e.g., video production, digital media)

Demonstrated teaching or research experience with emergent media such as data-driven journalism, social network analysis, interactive journalism, web development or digital story-telling 
Demonstrated scholarly activity (e.g., published journal articles in peer reviewed journals, book chapters, scholarly books) sufficient to meet the requirements of a tenured associate or full professor 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduate level teaching experience in face-to-face environments
• Teaching and research interests in Sport/Entertainment Journalism or Public Relations
• Professional experience in emergent media such as data-driven journalism, social network analysis, interactive journalism, web development or digital story-telling
• Experience as faculty member or administrator with an ACEJMC accredited unit
• Experience in curriculum assessment

The School of Media and Communication is one of 17 academic units in the College of Arts and Sciences. The School currently has 31 full-time faculty with national and/or international reputations, and 600 undergraduate majors and 60 graduate students. Undergraduates pursue baccalaureate degrees in Communication, Media Production and Studies, Advertising and Journalism and engage in a variety of student media groups including: The BG News, the student newspaper; BG-24 News, a live television newscast; WBGU-FM, a radio station that broadcasts throughout NW Ohio; and The Obsidian, a quarterly publication featuring diversity issues.  Graduate students can pursue MA or PhD degrees in Media and Communication.  

 The School of Media and Communication is housed in the Kuhlin Center.  The Kuhlin Center is a unique production facility that sets a standard for education in a production control room environment. Production spaces include a 1,740 sq. ft. studio equipped with an Electronic Theatre Control board, LED lighting and green cyc. There are multiple Grass Valley studio cameras, some of which are equipped for robotic operation. The 600 sq. ft. Production Control room is furnished with a Grass Valley Karrera switcher, Ross Trackless Studio with Virtual Sets for news, sports, weather and talk show applications. The Kuhlin Center also has a 300 sq. ft. Insert Studio, a 900 sq. ft. Audio Recording Studio, two student managed Radio Stations, and a Convergence Lab all which are patchable to the Production Control Room for diverse applications.
