Tenure-track Assistant Professor and Director of Fire Administration, 12-month position starting August 2020.

Teach introductory, upper-division and graduate courses in Fire Administration, Public Administration and Political Science; direct the Fire Administration program, an online undergraduate degree completion program training fire service personnel skills in public administration needed to assume leadership positions; develop an academic research program resulting in a high level of productivity; actively seek external funding as appropriate

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in Political Science, Public Administration or another related social science field (e.g., Government, Public Policy & Administration).  ABDs will be considered as long as the requirements for the degree are completed by August 2020.

College-level teaching experience, as instructor of record or teaching assistant. 

Demonstrable scholarly activity, including a research agenda and at least one research presentation at a national or regional conference or one or more published or in press journal articles, book chapters or books in peer reviewed outlets.

Primary research focus in Public Administration, Fire Administration, Emergency Management or closely related fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

Research program focusing on fire management administration, fire sciences, emergency services administration, disaster sciences, or public safety.

Experience teaching or designing online courses.

Fire service experience.

Expected Start Date: August 2020

The Political Science department is a growing, research active department with 15 full time faculty.. BGSU offers broad opportunities for interdisciplinary activity, including research centers such as the Center for Regional Development. The department is the home of State Fire School which provides hands on training to more than 350 firefighters per year. The Department seeks to imcrease the diversity of its faculty, in order to better serve students and the community.
