The Department of Political Science at Bowling Green State University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor position in the field of American Politics to start August, 2020. This is a qualified-rank (non-tenure track), renewable position.

Successful candidates are expected to be effective teachers. They will be expected to teach courses in American politics, broadly defined, at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The teaching load is 4/4. Faculty are expected to be actively engaged in the governance of the department. 

- Ph.D. or equivalent in political science or a closely related discipline (e.g., government). ABDs are eligible to apply provided that all requirements for the doctoral degree are met before the start date.
- College-level teaching experience in political science, as instructor of record or teaching assistant. 
- Area of specialization is American politics.
- Effective teaching of undergraduate students, as demonstrated by the contents of the Portfolio of Teaching Effectiveness (see below).
 
Preferred qualification:
- Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in public administration, or graduate courses taken in public administration

The Political Science department offers a baccalaureate degree (B.A.) in political science and a Master’s in Public Administration, as well as a minor in Non-profit Management and a BS in Fire Administration, a public administration degree for fire service officers. The department values innovative pedagogies and experiential learning. It is a growing, research active department with 15 full time faculty. BGSU offers broad opportunities for interdisciplinary activity, including research centers such as the Center for Regional Development.  The Department seeks to increase the diversity of its faculty in order to better serve students and the community.
