Provides high-level administrative support for the Cedar Fair Resort and Attraction Management degree program. Performs work of a confidential nature. Researches and analyzes reports and makes recommendations on follow-up actions. Interprets, develops and implements department policies and procedures. Serves as liaison with Cedar Point, City of Sandusky, and other partners.  Serves as the building curator for the Resort and Management facility in Sandusky.

  • Exercises fiscal responsibility by managing the program’s budget, and budgets related to special projects.  Gathers and analyzes data and makes recommendations related to budget reallocation.  Processes travel and expense reimbursements for those in the program.  Maintains inventory of office supplies and places orders as needed and processes invoices.
  • Researches, establishes, and documents policies and procedures related to routine and new administrative functions stemming from the public-private partnership and operating a BGSU program in a stand-alone facility in Sandusky, OH.  Exercises discretion and initiative in reviewing and routing and responding to correspondence.
  • Supports program director in establishment of policies and procedures and problem solving.  Engages in data collection and analysis, and writes and edits reports and presentations. Collaborates with Director to develop long range  plans for the academic programs.
  • Researches functions of various departments at BGSU and BGSU Firelands in addition to academically relevant functions provided by Cedar Fair and the City of Sandusky to answer questions from current and prospective students, staff,  faculty, and general public. 
  • Engages in problem-solving with respect to unique challenges that arise from the public-private partnerships by triaging as needed, identifying resources that can help address issues, and suggesting and communicating potential solutions.
  • Performs typical meeting and event management functions including but not limited to scheduling in-person and virtual meetings, communicating meeting agenda and expectations, documenting meeting minutes, and related budgetary functions.
  • Interacts regularly with campus and community partners.
  • Establishes and follows procedures related to recordkeeping and appointments for the program. 
  • Serves as liaison for Cedar Point.  Engages in programming functions such as designing and coordinating visits of students in the pre-major for Resort and Attraction Management to Cedar Point, Sandusky, and BGSU Firelands.  Monitors and documents costs associated with visits.  Engages in data collection, analysis, and documentation related to these visits and makes data-driven recommendations related to future visits. Directly handles problems and concerns for the BGSU program.
  • Coordinates building & grounds upkeep for the academic facility in Sandusky, OH (regular communication and work-orders to/from BGSU facilities for building maintenance issues {custodial, lawn, snow removal, plumbing, electric, misc. issues}).
  • Communicates with BGSU Lockshop for daily locking needs for the automatic Marlok front entrance door schedule.
  • Communicate with ITS & CTS with respect to classroom and conference room technology issues/needs.
  • Facilitates any unique needs that arise out of the public-private partnership.
  • May supervise student workers and/or other staff.
  • Arranges/coordinates transportation as needed.  

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required in Business, Communications, Higher Education and Student Affairs, Cultural Studies, Hospitality/Hospitality and Event Management, Entertainment Management, Resort Management, Tourism/Tourism Management, Recreation Management, Hotel/Restaurant Management, Leisure and Tourism, Food Service and Lodging Management, Recreation, Sport, and Tourism, or related field required.    Successful candidate must have bachelor’s degree conferred at the time of application.   Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with the university’s vehicle use policy.    



The following experience is required:

  • At least 2 years of experience related to office management
  • 1 to 2 years of experience related to customer service.


Salary

Full-time, Administrative staff position available. Administrative Grade Level 354. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefit package available.

  • Strong public speaking, communication/interpersonal skills, project management experience.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts from multiple areas, manage conflicting priorities and problem solve under pressure.
