Assistant Director for Diversity

Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director for Diversity is responsible for the development of a strategic plan which outlines outreach, recruitment, yield, and assessment for special populations at BGSU.  This includes the planning and oversight of special recruitment programs for underrepresented students. These activities would provide a strategy to attract applicants and guide them through the enrollment funnel.

This position would serve as a subject matter expert and work closely with the admissions team and campus partners. Strong relationship building skills will be vital when working with students, families, school counselors, campus partners, and college access advisors. They will manage a traditional recruitment territory including travel, school relations, communication with prospective students, interviews, application review, etc.

This position will be able to respond to concerns and interests while supporting our diversity and belonging strategy and should have some knowledge of current marketing and retention strategies, and be able to develop new programs and initiatives. Experience analyzing data to determine progress and strategies is essential.

  • Responsible for the development of a strategic plan to include outreach, recruitment, yield and assessment for special populations at BGSU.  This includes the planning, execution and oversight for special recruitment programs for multicultural students. These activities would include campus visit events and off campus programs to attract applications and enroll special populations at BGSU. 
  • Uses territory management approach to manage recruitment territory and meet enrollment goals.  Visit secondary schools, manage and plan programs in territory and participate in on or off campus Recruitment Events. Must evaluate inquiry and applicant data using our CRM to drive recruitment decisions and outreach tactics.  Communicates with prospects and applicants and creates and maintains contact with alumni, school personnel and families in territory. Create positive environment with visitors and ensure they have a productive and successful visit to campus.
  • Coordinates and is the subject matter expert on multicultural recruitment for the Admissions team and campus partners.
  • Develop relationships and represent BGSU both on and off campus to promote partnership and create pathways for multicultural student recruitment.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree.  Successful candidate must have Bachelor’s Degree conferred at the time of  application.
Master’s degree preferred.

The following experience is required:

  • 3 years of experience in education setting, preferably college or university with emphasis on student recruitment.
  • Preference given to candidates with multicultural recruitment or enrollment experience.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience   
  • Valid driver’s license



Full-time, Administrative staff position available. Administrative Grade Level 356. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefit package available.
