Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is seeking applicants for three 9-month tenure track positions as faculty members of a new BSN program at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, starting January 2021. Our BSN program is seeking accreditation by CCNE in October of 2020.  The curriculum incorporates a commitment to nursing, health care, diversity, leadership, development of clinical judgment, QSEN, ANA, and professional growth.  This position is reviewed annually for renewal.

Facilitates learning by assessing the learning needs of the student, planning for the achievement of educational outcomes, implementing student learning activities and evaluating student achievement. Promotes learner development and socialization to the role of the nurse by providing resources to diverse learners and initiating appropriate referrals for students with academic difficulties. Participates effectively in continuous quality improvement, curriculum design and evaluation of program outcomes reflective of evidence-based practice, the school philosophy, and the university mission and vision.  Provides leadership for change to promote an innovative and effective educational environment.  Provides direction to teaching assistants and preceptors who are supervising nursing students in the clinical area (if applicable). Utilizes teaching methods which are varied and appropriate for the learning outcomes desired in the skills laboratory, simulation laboratory, or clinical setting (as applicable). 

The faculty member will serve as a coordinator for either the skills laboratory, simulation laboratory, or clinical setting.  

A terminal degree in nursing or related field (PhD, EdD, DNP)  if the terminal degree is not in nursing, the master’s degree or bachelor’s degree must be in nursing from an accredited program. At least 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse and an active, valid, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the State of Ohio.  Preference will be given to a Certified Nurse Educator, previous teaching experience in a BSN program, experience in an academic setting and/or simulation lab setting, experience with obstetric nursing, experience with board of nursing rules/regulations, and experience with accreditation through systematic evaluation.

Finalists are also required to furnish official transcripts and are subject to a background check. For clinical faculty, upon hire, applicants will be required to submit immunization records and/or titers, proof of negative tuberculosis testing, a physical examination, BLS certification, and any additional requirements of clinical agencies.
