The brand strategist will assist the Director of Brand Strategy and Media Outreach with (1) enhancing University communications to elevate the BGSU brand through telling our story through an aggressive and strategic social media approach (2) linking University communications with key constituencies through social media initiatives.  The brand strategist is responsible for creating social media strategies and content. The position will also assist in managing a student social media team. The position will support additional communications through supporting content generation.

  • Responsible for creating social media strategies, campaigns and content, including written posts and art, for BGSU’s social media accounts (Facebook, Facebook Groups, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, TikTok) to reach key stakeholders on each platform.
  • Research, write, proofread and edit content to create engaging text, image and video for BGSU’s primary social media channels.
  • Manage a student social media team, including reviewing and editing posts for consistency and accuracy.
  • Track and report analytics; identify trends and pitch strategies and campaigns to elevate BGSU strategic initiatives;
  • Manage a social media editorial calendar; pitch stories and content that align with University brand through telling our story;
  • Meet with and assist campus partners to develop strategies for social media accounts. 

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, communication or related field required.  Successful candidate must have Bachelor’s degree conferred by the start date.  Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with the university’s vehicle use policy.    

The following experience is required:

  • 6-12 months of professional social media strategy and content-creation experience, which can include work as a graduate student. Prefer experience in higher education communications and social media. Final candidates will be asked to provide a portfolio of writing samples with a social media exercise on the day of the interview.

 

Salary

Full-time, Administrative staff position available. Administrative Grade Level 354. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefit package available.
