Assistant Professor, full-time, tenure-track in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Because this position contributes to the interdisciplinary Data Science doctoral program, the successful candidate will have a joint affiliation in the Department of Applied Statistics and Operations Research. 

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Statistics, Data Science, and Mathematics, typically with a teaching load of 2 courses per semester.
Develop a coherent research agenda that leads to publications in leading statistics and data science journals; actively seek external research funding as appropriate; interact with faculty and students to maintain highly regarded programs in statistics and data science.
Provide service to the department, college, and university, as well as to the profession at the state, national or international level.
Minimum Qualifications 
The successful candidate must have satisfied all the program requirements of a doctoral degree in statistics, data science, or in a closely related field (e.g., mathematics or computer science) by the start of employment (August 2021).
Teaching experience as a TA or instructor. 
Demonstrated scholarly work in statistics, data science, or in a closely related area (e.g., Bayesian inferences, actuarial science, data mining, machine learning, high-dimensional data analysis, and high performance computing (HPC) with large data sets in modern statistics) through publications, doctoral dissertation (or technical report on the results from the development of doctoral dissertation), or research presentations at national or international conferences.
 
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated research productivity through one or more published or in press peer-reviewed journal articles or book chapters in top tier outlets in statistics or data science 
Experience seeking external research funding
Experience teaching statistics or data science courses

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at BGSU enjoys a nationally ranked doctoral program that offers a full range of graduate programs including two doctoral degree programs (PhD in Mathematics and PhD in Statistics) and undergraduate major programs in data science, statistics, pure math, applied-math, and actuarial science. In addition, the Department (joint with the Departments of Computer Sciences, Applied Statistics & Operations Research) has the the Ph.D./M.S. in Data Science programs recently established in Fall 2019.
