Bowling Green State University (BGSU) invites applications for an Electronic Resources Librarian with faculty rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. The position reports to the Chair of the Department of Library Teaching & Learning (LTL) within the University Libraries (UL) and is a full time, twelve-month renewable, non-tenure track, qualified rank faculty appointment.    

The Electronic Resources Librarian will provide leadership for the management and use of electronic resources in a multi-disciplinary library, working collaboratively across departments in the UL and facilitating collective decision-making for electronic resources.

  • Manages user access and improves discovery of electronic resources by guiding the assessment and customization of database interfaces, participating in usability testing, and leading other projects related to user access.
  • Works closely with library staff to manage Summon, 360 Link, and ERM module within Sierra.
  • Facilitates communication about electronic resources across departments within the UL.
  • Promotes electronic resources across the institution to increase public awareness and use; collaborates with internal stakeholders on this promotion.
  • Participates in outreach and instruction activities related to e-resources, including training for UL staff and campus groups.
  • Collaborates with subject team(s) in building and maintaining collections.
  • Troubleshoots user access problems and communicates solutions to UL users and staff.
  • Participates in the gathering and analysis of usage data to aid in decision making.
  • Participates in vendor/publisher communications for the purpose of sustaining access to electronic resources.
  • Participates in reference services, including staffing the reference desk and chat reference.
  • Develops electronic resources initiatives with internal stakeholders and assists in the development of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Participates in service to the department (LTL) and University Libraries  

 

Minimum Qualifications. The candidate will be expected to provide evidence of the following:

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution to be conferred by position start date.
  • 3-6 months experience in reference, public service, collection development, or electronic resources in a library setting in a graduate student or professional capacity.
  • Experience with electronic resources life cycle and management practices in a graduate student or professional capacity.

Preferred Qualifications. Additional qualifications that may strengthen and enhance a candidate’s application include:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues and constituents.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform accurate, detail-oriented work, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience planning, organizing, and managing projects, both independently and within a team environment.
  • Experience with III Sierra, Summon, 360 Link, EZ Proxy, or similar systems.
  • Experience using licensed electronic resources and other digital content such as open URL access and electronic resources management software.
  • Evidence of involvement with diversity and equity work in community, organizational, or employment settings.

Salary range $45,593 - $60,000.
