POSITION TITLE
Full-time, Tenure-track Assistant Professor, Department of Construction Management
 
POSITION SUMMARY
The School of the Built Environment (SBE) at Bowling Green State University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor for our Construction Management program with a start date of August 7, 2023. The individual will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in construction management in one or more areas of (depending on expertise): Construction Surveying; Construction Materials and Testing; Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Systems in Buildings; Estimating and Cost Control; Construction Safety and Health Management; Construction Scheduling. The individual will also perform applied funded research in one or more areas related to surveying and inspection; 3-D construction-related technologies; design-build; facilities management; material science; sustainability; resilient infrastructure; building information modeling; demolition and restoration; construction robotics; intelligent techniques and systems; and/or other emerging areas of relevance to the construction industry. The successful candidate will be able to perform outreach and engage with industry. 
 
Housed within the College of Technology, Architecture, and Applied Engineering, the School of the Built Environment offers a transformative experience for students who seek to engage in design-build innovation, and the creation of exemplary places, structures, and systems with the goal of shaping the future of our built environment. The School is comprised of the Department of Architecture and Environmental Design and the Department of Construction Management, two units with established histories, collaborations, and synergies. Our program remains distinct, because we require 3 paid co-op experiences, which typically transition into full-time job opportunities upon graduation. 
 
The Construction Management program enrolls over 200 students and offers the following degrees and a certificate:
- Bachelor of Science in Construction Management
- Masters of Technology Management - Construction Management
- Graduate Certificate in Construction Management

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate is expected to:
1) Teach undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in construction management and participate in undergraduate and graduate curriculum and new program development.
2) Engage in outreach with industry/external partners, and develop and sustain an applied research agenda in one or more areas related with: surveying and inspection; 3-D construction-related technologies; design build; facilities management; material science; sustainability; resilient infrastructure; building information modeling; demolition and restoration; construction robotics; intelligent techniques and systems; and/or other emerging areas of relevance to the construction industry.
3) Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
4) Perform service to the school, college, and university.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
1) Ph.D. in any one of the following areas: Construction Management; Construction Engineering; Civil Engineering; or related discipline. Individuals (ABDs) who expect to complete their Ph.D. before the start date of the contract, August 7, 2023 will be considered.
2) Applicants must have a minimum of one year of related industry experience.
3) The successful candidate needs to have a proven record of peer-reviewed published research in relevant areas.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
1) Experience and ability to successfully teach relevant construction management courses.
2) Professional level certification/s in one or more areas such as: Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Certified Construction Manager (CCM); American Institute of Constructors (AIC) Level 2; Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP); Certified Facility Manager (CFM); Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED AP); Passive House Institute US (PHIUS); Design Build Institute of America (DBIA).
3) Licensure as a registered surveyor and/or ability to teach surveying and inspection.
4) Experience with cross-disciplinary teaching and service efforts in architecture and construction management.
5) Knowledge of digital software applications in the industry/profession (Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, etc.).
