The Humanities Department at Bowling Green State University Firelands College is seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor in Writing and English beginning in August 2023. This is a full-time, renewable, qualified rank (a.k.a., non-tenure track) faculty appointment.

With 2,000 students, BGSU Firelands is the regional branch campus of Bowling Green State University. The University has nationally recognized programs and research in the natural and social sciences, education, arts, business, health and wellness, humanities, and applied technologies. BGSU Firelands seeks talented individuals to join our community in Huron, Ohio, on the scenic shores of Lake Erie. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach 12 credit hours per semester in the areas of Writing and English.
  • Online and evening teaching may be required.
  • Participate in professional development.
  • Participate in department, college, and university service activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in English or a closely related field (e.g., Rhetoric and Composition) at the time of the appointment
  • Evidence of a commitment to diversity and inclusion in the profession

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching composition and writing courses and English courses at the undergraduate level, including as an appointed faculty member, adjunct faculty member, and/or graduate student.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness, which may include, but is not limited to teaching evaluations; peer evaluations; evidence of innovative teaching practices; and experience with online instruction in composition, writing, and English.

Salary & Benefits:

This is a full-time faculty position. Salary is commensurate with peer institutions and candidate experience and credentials. Full benefits package available
