Bowling Green State University (BGSU) invites applicants for a position in accounting at the associate or full professor level to be Chair of the Department of Accounting and Management Information Systems (AMIS) starting Fall 2019. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with peer institution levels. Tenure may be recommended by the Provost based upon the qualifications of the candidate. The department has undergraduate programs in accounting, information systems, and information systems and auditing control as well as a Master of Accountancy. Department faculty also teach in full-time, professional, and executive MBA programs as well as in a full-time MSA program. Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in systems, who have professional certificates and who have work experience with large public accounting firms. Preference will be given for demonstrated ability to mentor junior faculty research. Current or previous experience as a chair or in another administrative role is preferred.

Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence is expected along with a service record consistent with an appointment at this level. The Chair will generally teach one class each semester, oversee engagement with departmental alumni, support a research environment in the department, maintain AACSB accreditation requirements for the department, manage departmental personnel and budget, and engage alumni, accounting professionals and recruiters to promote its programs.

The appointment also includes the Robert W. and Patricia A. Maurer Family Distinguished Endowed Professorship in Accounting. The Maurer Professor shall work to promote the accounting profession as an academic field of research, study and teaching while facilitating strong and continuing linkages with the external community to enable student contact with members of the accounting profession, business enterprises and other organizations served by accountants. It is also expected that the Maurer Professor will provide seminars, lectures, and research in the field of accounting and will work to facilitate internships and other learning opportunities for students.

PhD. or D.B.A. in business from AACSB accredited university; a concentration in accounting is preferred. The candidate will be at least an Associate Professor and is a scholarly academic by AACSB standards at their current institution.
