Assistant Professor in Graphic Design, Tenure-Track. We invite applications from individuals dedicated to collaborative team building, respect for diverse points of view and an ability to create an academic environment based on inclusivity.

- Teach undergraduate introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses in the following areas: graphic design thinking, integrative design, typography, interactive design, design history, time-based/motion design, system-based design and design for social impact; with an opportunity to teach at the graduate level;
- Contribute to the development, maintenance, and assessment of the Graphic Design curriculum;
- Engage in student advising, possible supervision of student organizations, and work collegially within and outside the School of Art and/or University at large in building interdisciplinary collaborations;
- Participate in departmental, college and university service, including committee work and academic support services such as portfolio reviews, student advising, and recruitment activities;
- Demonstrate continuous commitment to social responsibility and advocacy as they relate to design and related areas.

Minimum Qualifications:
- MFA or MDes in Graphic Design, Experience Design, Communication Design, Integrative Design or similar degrees; or PhD in related field of Visual Communication, from an accredited university; 
- One year of college-level teaching experience (beyond TA) in established professional BA/BFA graphic design related programs.
- Record of creative/research work in one or more of the following: print and non-print design (interface, user experience, motion design), typography, design research, design thinking, branding, information design and design for social good. 
- Technical proficiency at intermediate/advanced level with web programming standards (HTML 5 /CSS) and Adobe Creative software, specifically After Effects and Premiere Pro, as demonstrated in professional and student work.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional experience as graphic designer, ongoing professional practice, or demonstrated record of academic scholarship in graphic/communication design.
- Expertise with Motion/Time-Based Design in digital environments, AND one or more of the following areas: Information/Visualization Design, New Media Design    (Interaction/Experience Design, UI/UX Design, et. al.), Integrative Design, Design Thinking, Branding, Design Entrepreneurship, Human-Centered Design, Design, as demonstrated in professional and student work.
- Theory/Criticism, Service Design, or Social Impact Design demonstrated through research/creative activities, teaching, or service.
- Evidence of community engagement/partnerships through research/creative activities, teaching, or service.

Facilities -- the Fine Arts Center and the Wolfe Center for the Arts: The School of Art’s Graphic Design division is located in two adjacent buildings. The primary classroom/lab for Graphic Design is in the Fine Arts Center and additional classroom/labs are housed in the Wolfe Center for the Arts. Designed by the international architectural firm Snøhetta and winner of the Society of the American Institute of Architects Ohio 2012 Design Award, the Wolfe Center opened in 2012 to provide a collaborative space for synergistic partnerships between theatre, film, music, dance and art/design.
