Salary commensurate with education & experience

Instructor, Classical Studies; Department of World Languages and Cultures. Full-time, non-tenure track, renewable.

Teach language, literature, and culture courses at the undergraduate level;
Fulfill service to the department, college, and university as well as to the profession.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Classical Studies required; ABDs are eligible to apply but all the requirements for the degree must be completed before the start date;
Experience as an instructor of record teaching Classical Civilization classes face to face and online at the undergraduate level; 
Fluency in reading ancient Greek and Latin as demonstrated by appropriate courses taken as a graduate student. 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Evidence of teaching focus in mythology and Greek and Roman civilization courses; 
Demonstrated interest or experience with experiential pedagogies such as service-learning, community engagement, and study abroad;
Experience with curriculum development.

World Languages and Cultures’ program in Classical Studies offers courses that emphasize creativity, reading, interpreting, and writing, asking students to view material empathetically and from multiple perspectives and to create conclusions that acknowledge life’s complexities and nuances. Through interesting and engaging course work Classics asks students to develop a disciplined and organized approach to learning; to grapple with life’s big questions; and to develop flexibility in considering problems and devising solutions. World Languages and Cultures is under the direction of the College of Arts and Sciences.  Largest of the collegiate organizations of BGSU, the College of Arts and Sciences includes nineteen schools and academic departments as well as an additional number of formally organized program areas.  The academic departments span the range of the traditional disciplines in the arts and humanities, languages, sciences and mathematics and social sciences.
